Arf ID

The global logistics industry has used ISO 18000-6C RFID tags for over a decade, but using them effectively has required industrial-scale enterprise software integrations, user interfaces only an engineer could love, and lots of layers of complexity. Arf ID aims to take the best parts of RFID to help you organize your home and small business, keep track of tools and materials, and help you answer the question: “where did that thing go?”

Arf ID is coming soon to your favorite App Store. Reach out for a preview or to talk about features and use cases!

Your helpful finding buddy

No enterprise contracts, no XML, no fuss. Bring your own reader device and tags. You can find inexpensive, very high-performance UHF RFID readers on international sites like AliExpress and eBay. Arf ID currently supports the R5 (excellent scan range) and MR20 (so tiny!) devices from Chainway. They’re a few hundred dollars shipped around the world. We expect to support more vendors and models over time but the R5 is a great choice for getting started with RFID.

Check out eBay listings here for an idea of what’s available. You can buy rolls of self-adhesive RFID tags in bulk for well under a dollar each, we’ve seen them as low as a few cents in thousands quantities.

There are also specialty variants such as zip-tie tags for power tools, and waterproof laundry tags for durably tagging jackets, gloves, and other things which can be misplaced by busy kids.
